Marius' Basics

FULL NAME: Marius Cygnus Black
AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: 23/October 20, 1913
SEXUAL PREFERENCE: Heterosexual, married to Ariel Black.
BLOODLINE: Pureblooded, used to be a squib in life.
APPEARANCE:
Marius, unlike his brother and sister, had black hair and blue eyes. As a young boy he was always short and stickly, it didn't apply as an adult. When he grew into his teens, he got tall and outgrew his father by three inches; standing at six foot two. Since he was always lanky, he found it better to wear clothes that fit him properly and he always appeared to have a square build to his body. He has a prominent chin that he inherited from his father and the rest of his strong features come from his mother, but he ends up looking more girlish due to the feminine charm he appears to have on his face.

He dressed in very casual clothing but appears to like rich wizarding robes more than normal clothes. He often wears long coats and dark pants to hide his leg that he protects like a wounded dog. Marius is usually seen with a long metallic crutch or a cane if he's in a larger public area where alot of people might run into him, or at a get together. He's very insecure about his disability and tries to do more than he should in his condition, which leads to him getting tired often.

Marius' Personals

PERSONALITY:
Marius has a magnetic personality, a certain charm about him that makes other favor his company, even those not wishing it. He plays a fair game of reverse psychology on those who feel they hate him and find him repulsive. He does not make his disability all what he is, he chooses to charm and make friends while only trusting a brief few to his inner workings. He's the type of guy that you'd find as a fire-fighter, ambitious, charismatic and charming with his words and actions. Marius doesn't like sympathy and wants to make sure nobody looks at him for just that, he get angry at people who look at his crippled-leg with a sympathetic look and if he catches it, he's quick to re-direct their face at his own.

He makes sure to never make his life about his inability to walk correctly, the quickest way to irk him is to make it obvious that you are staring, pity him or otherwise not looking at him as you would look at any other person. Marius has great determination to learn since he had to do most of it through books and tried getting himself into music as a way to make "magic" without wands or words. This time with his guitar is something that he can't replace with any other time, while he could have found another instrument, he found the guitar the most like him because of what it said to him when he played it. He had a deep emotional vocabulary and often understands others when they don't understands themselves, which makes him very easy to talk to. The only bad thing about this is the fact that he doesn't take "no" for an answer and will never stop bothering until he finds out what it is, even if he obsesses about it and goes through others to find out the answer; even if you were just hiding that your favourite colour was red.

Keeping things from him quickly earns distrust, it's better just to tell him. Marius would never tell another soul unless you said it was alright. He never forgets a cut or a kindness, so it's best to say on his good side unless you want a obsessive, ruthlessness, vindictive enemy on your hands. Marius is not someone easily crossed and if you did cross him, you must have done something truly fuck-up.

While he seems to be alot of nice things, Marius is more or less not as nice as he appears sometimes. He can be selfish because he was so used to never having to share anything with anyone and appears to be over-protective of things he knows are his. He's almost like a Cerberus guarding things; unlikely you'll ever get passed him.

Marius frequently pushes himself hard to get what he wants accomplished done, obsessively so in some cases. This can be anything from writing a letter to painting a house, he'll get it done on time even if it means he'll be dead tired or exhausted. This is also the same when it comes to his disability, he doesn't like to be helped with anything he does. and the only person who could would be Ariel. It's clear that he inherited some of his negative traits from his father, but most of his traits he gained by experiencing things on his own instead of being a blank slate for him parents to write on.

Marius' Check

Marius Black was the middle child of four, not being the oldest or the youngest just somewhere inbetween. He was born to Cygnus Black, a purist, and Violetta Bulstrode, a fierce woman. The two were totally meant for each other and prove so by having many children and all of them brought pride to them with the exception of Marius. They came to the realization that their son was a squib at the age of six, he couldn't wave a wand around properly and nothing ever came from it when he did. Violetta didn't take pleasure in seeing her son burned off the wall by Cygnus, who actually took pleasure in it. Cygnus, in his grief, had attempted to kill Marius in his sleep so he wouldn't live to show how his older son of the two boys in the family. Cygnus attempted to stab his son but Violetta caught him before he made it successful, she was ashamed of him and they fought frequently what to do about Marius as he was only four years away from needing to get a wand and go to school.

Marius didn't understand but his brother and sisters didn't want to lose their brother and they frequently protected him. Cygnus and Violetta came to a discussion and decided that he never be allowed to leave the house, even if supervised. Cygnus, however, wanted to make sure that he didn't run about and try to leave and humiliate the family. So, one night, shortly after he turned seven years old Cygnus grabbed Marius from his bed, dragged him to the cellar of his house. He tied and gagged Marius before starting, Cygnus used a metal pole he'd taken from a dump and brought it home. He proceeded to prop Marius' leg into a firm binding and used the metal pole in a rage and damaged Marius' leg beyond physical repair and a few curses in case it was possible. Cygnus was unbelievably cruel to son and forced Marius to never breath a word of it or that he would be killed. The two of them made up some kind of story that involved him falling out of his window, running away and getting in a fight with someone who never existed. The family rushed him in Saint Mungo's but the damage had already been done, he'd be cripple and unable to walk without aid for the rest of his life.

Marius' childhood was spent trying to cope with the fact that he couldn't go anywhere and he couldn't enjoy Hogwarts. The rest of the family knew of him being a squib and found it unfortunate that he had such a circumstance. He usually wasn't invited to having dinner with the family during holidays and spent most of the time in his room unless someone wanted to see how he was doing specifically. When he was strong enough, Marius started walking with a magic leg band that helped ease the pain in walk, but he still required a crutch and that's the reason they gave the public on why Marius was unable to go to school. Marius used his brother's wand when other's who weren't family were around, just to say that he "had" one instead of not having one at all. It looked less suspicious that way.

During his teenage years, he frequently snuck out of the house, even with his walking problem to explore and get used the world around him. The young man wanted much more than to be a withered old man in a house where everyone pretended like he didn't exist. Marius began to explore and even stole some of his parents money to indulge into a musical instrument. He started finding his way into the muggle-suburbs and eventually found reasons to continue coming back; he met a girl. The woman was a nurse and she was a few years older than him, but he didn't care as he was never used to getting attention from anyone. When he became an adult, he left his house for good and only a note was left for his family. He explained how horrible his life was and that he wanted to do more because he didn't want to live this way.

Marius ended up marrying the nurse, Ariel, shortly after he became of age. Ariel was able to take care of his needs, helping him to be able to walk again at some point. After the two were happily married, he revealed himself and explain his story. Much to Marius' surprise, Ariel didn't leave him, she stayed faithful and understood what he was saying but she didn't truly understand it until they had their son, Perseus. The rest of his life consisted of him trying to teach his son the way to be accepted as a Wizard in the world, he sent a letter to his family and told them about Perseus but they refused to see him. The only thing that came of it was the fact that Pollux had decided to help the boy along until he was of age.

Marius at some point became a grandfather and outlived his wife by nearly fifty years. It was hard for him to cope with the fact that he'd outlive his parents and his siblings, he eventually died from lack of food and water as he starved himself to death on purpose.
